The river was calm and quiet, flowing in rhythm, letting the water slosh across the bank as it carried abundant fish. The sunlight reflected off the blue surface, making the water nice and warm. A young black she-cat knew the river was the place to be on a hot summer day. Her dark pelt was sleek with droplets of water as she swam through the river, enjoying the cool water brushing her underbelly and legs. "Ah....This is the life!"Lotusheart sighed, flipping onto her back so that she was floating on the water. er hind legs were facing up while her front paws were tucked in front of her scruffy white chest. She was not at all concerned that her soft belly was exposed to the sun as she slowly floated in the water.

Dreamwyvern looked towards the river, "Oh" She groaned ever so lightly, she could use a nice cooling off, it was sad because she didn't know how to swim in truth but she would love to just go in far enough so she could stand in it and not... drown. But of course the fact that she was carrying kits weighed on her mind and thought perhaps it wasn't such a good idea. She moved closer and soon found a she-cat floating on the water, she blinked a bit she reconized her from the camp but wasn't sure of her name... she wasn't good with names yet being new to the camp and all. She pawed at the water silently a bit more nervous now, she heard the cat say it was the life. "It does look nice" She answered back to her softly, "But I can't swim so I can't quite agree" She laughed softly towards her.

Lotusheart was startled by a voice above her. She quickly tried to flip back onto her paws in the water, but in her haste, her head went down and she began to splutter. Luckily, her legs were strong enough to kick herself back to the surface as her head broke through, gasping for air. "Blech blech!"she coughed out, getting water out of her lungs. "Great Starclan, don't startle me like that! I almost drowned!"she gasped, glaring pointedly at the she-cat who had woken her from her daydream. Although her words were sharp, the fur on her back laid flat and the shock in her green eyes was replaced by a good-natured glint. The black she-cat easily paddled herself onto shore before climbing onto the bank. River water streamed down her fur, which she didn't bother to shake off. Her ears perked as she got a good look at the she-cat standing before her, recognizing Dreamwyvern. "Oh it's you! Shouldn't you be in the nursery?"Lotusheart mewed, tilting her head curiously at the queen.

Dreamwyvern gasped as she she-cat went under and then came up coughing, she frowned, "I'm so sorry I didn't know" She said sadly, she hadn't meant to scare the she-cat, she was sad she was in Mistclan and she still didn't know everyone's names and worst off she didn't understand a lot of the clan's terms, but also... she didn't know how to swim. She frowned, if that she-cat had went under and started to drown she wouldn't have been able to help her. She sighed abit, "Well yes I should be... but I wanted to come for a walk, it's terribly hot in the nursery and I wanted a drink, since no one was around I thought I should get it myself" She said to her lightly.

"Well next time you say 'hi' to a cat, make sure she isn't prone to drowning," Lotusheart advised, taking a paw and giving it a few licks before drawing it over her head. The she-cat flicked her black tail towards the flowing river, mewing, "Go on,take a drink! It'll cool you off in no time. Of course I prefer swimming." Lotusheart suddenly flipped onto her back, exposing her soft belly before squirming around in the grass as the sun warmed her wet fur. She looked so carefree and relaxed, like an overgrown kit. "You should swim sometime. Are you allowed to with kits?"she meowed, looking up curiously at Dreamwyvern with her green eyes.

Dreamwyvern laughed timidly, "yes, I'm still so sorry, I will keep that in mind" She said to her, she looked at her softly, and then took a drink from the river and then pulled back, "I actually don't know if one can swim with kits and anyways I can't swim at all" She said, "I'd love to learn one day" She said to her she looked towards the river again and started to groom herself. Her eyes looked around, "How long have you been swimming for?" she asked to her, she didn't know if she could swim with kits, perhaps if she wasn't so close to kitting she could but when she was this close it was dangerous for certain.

"You don't know how to swim?"Lotusheart growled in disbelief, her eyes widening in surprise while her ears flickered, as if she didn't hear correctly. "Geez, how are you a Mistclan cat! It's super easy! I learned super quick when I started as an apprentice. All you have to do is kick your legs underwater,"the black she-cat explained, demonstrating by raising each hind leg, kicking back in turn. "Next time, I'll teach you,"she promised with an exasperated sigh. "Please tell me you can at least fish?"she questioned, her green eyes narrowing.

Dreamwyvern was surprised by Lotusheart's reaction, did she not know that she wasn't a born Mistclan cat? She had recently joined, "W-Well um... no I'm not, not really I'm apart of Mistclan... but I'm not really a true member I guess...." She uttered sparsely. She looked at her, "I-I don't know I'm a Queen I guess that's how I can be one" She said to her, she smiled a bit, "Thank you, I'd love to learn" She said, and then shook her head, "No actually I can't finish either" She said timidly, "I've leaned how to catch rabbits, birds, mice and voles though" She said to her lightly.

"Oh, you're that outside cat that joined our Clan,"Lotusheart meowed, her ears flickering. She never really remembered small stuff like that. Although she did have a memory of their leader introducing Dreamwyvern into the Clan, but that time, the she-cat hadn't really been paying attention. "Well you're lucky to be here. We don't normally take loners in. Just goes to show we're the best Clan,"the black she-cat boasted proudly. The black she-cat let out an exasperated hiss, shaking her head dramatically when she listened to Dreamwyvern confess she can't fish. "You're missing out. C'mon I'll teach you now!"the she-cat mewed enthusiastically. The Mistclan warrior padded towards the edge of the bank, beckoning her Clanmate over with her tail.

"Well yes" Dreamwyvern said lightly, "I am" She added, though hated being called an outside cat, it was better then being a traitor... a backstabber... someone who abandons those they love... it made her heart ache in truth to think of her past, the reason she was here. She looked at her quietly, "Yes I am very lucky, Thank Wyvern you are all so kind" She said to her softly, "I'm grateful to this clan and hope to birth good kits to become warriors here" She said and then looked over at the water, "It can't hurt to learn I suppose" She said moving over and padded beside her staring into the water.

"Alright, now the main trick is to keep still,"Lotusheart instructed to Dreamwyvern, her green eyes glittering. "The fish will swim away quickly if you make alot of noise or your shadow is in the water. That's why when you fish you always face towards the sun so your shadow is cast behind you."the she-cat meowed. Lotusheart begant to edge forward slowly, crouched at the edge of the bank with one paw stretched forward, claws unsheathed, hovering over the river's surface. "Now watch and learn,"she hissed quietly. The black-furred she-cat waited silently, her green eyes not even leaving the water's surface for one second. For an adventurous cat like herself, it was rare to see her as still as a rock. Suddenly, she spotted a flash of silver and her paws darted out quickly. Her claws broke through the water's surface and managed to hook into the slippery fish's flesh. Quick as lightning, the Mistclan cat tossed the fish up onto the bank. The fish flopped around violently, but its struggles were futile as Lotusheart lunged forward, giving it a sharp bite to kill it. "Ya got that?"Lotusheart meowed, glancing at Dreamwyvern to see if she had been paying attention.

Dreamwyvern watched closely, she blinked her eyes a bit, "Oh yes I believe I understand" She said to her softly, she looked at the water, "Perhaps I could give it a shot... after" She said, "I can't move to fast right now" She said to her softly, "I'd miss all of them" She chuckled to her gently, she purred and sat down, "That was amazing, good catch" She praised looking at the fish dead on the shore now. She looked at Lotusheart lightly, and winced a bit, "Ohhh" She groaned, her kits were moving and were wide awake now she could feel it without a doubt.

The black-furred she-cat picked up the slippery fish with her teeth, the river water streaming down from the fish and soaking up into her scruffy white chest fur. Lotusheart pricked her ears in alarm as she saw Dreamwyvern wince in pain. Somewhat alarmed, the she-cat dropped the fish and meowed urgently,, "What's wrong? Your kits aren't coming yet are they?" The she-cat kneaded her paws, wondering if she should fetch the medicine cat.

"N-No they are just moving, I'm so close.. I need to get back to my nest, can you help me walk back" she said. "Please?" She asked softly, the calico was in pain, she wanted to get back to her nest, but she was in pain, she knew they weren't coming yet only because she was a Wyvern and knew otherwise. Dreamwyvern looked at Lotusheart, she wondered why she sounded so alarmed... well if she did have her kits out of camp that would be a lot of trouble so she had every right to panic.

Lotusheart's tail twitched and she felt her ears hot with embarrassment. "Oh...right. Uh sure,"she mewed. The black-furred she-cat tried to ignore her moment of panic as she dipped her head to pick up the fish she had caught. She gripped the slippery fresh-kill firmly with her teeth and gave Dreamwyvern a nod to show she was ready. As they padded towards camp, the she-cat mewed through the fish, "So...why did you have kits? Isn't it kinda a burden?"
