Flarefur knew she should have been hunting right about now, though she didn't feel very up to it. Often as it was, she was being a procrastinator.
She grumbled as she rolled around lazily in the grass of the camp. Everyone around her trotted around her feverishly, or so it seemed. She listened to the complaints from the elders about the low fresh-kill pile. I'll do it later, Flarefur thought, can't they just give me a few heartbeats?
She yawned as she finally stood up, flicking her tail in agitation. It was a little after sun-high now., and Flarefur finally decided to go out and put in her part of the fresh-kill pile.
Before she made it out of the camp, however, she stopped and turned to look at the rush of Warriors bustling about. She sighed.

((It's alright i'll help you along the way )) Pepperpaw yawned widely as sunlight streamed through the apprentices den, warming his tortoiseshell patches on his solid white fur. The tom blinked awake, pricking his ears as he noticed the bustle outside camp, the usual activities running in the clearing. The young apprentice jumped to his paws, excitement coursing through his fur. Today was the first day of training and he couldn't wait. Shaking moss out of his pelt, the tom bounded outside to the clearing, screwing up his eyes as the sunlight poured into the camp clearing. Pepperpaw instantly spotted Flarefur and bounded over without another thought. "Hi Flarefur! Where are you going? Can I come? Please please please?"the young apprentice meowed, practically bouncing around his mentor like a kit. Indeed, his small size and tireless energy gave many impressions that he was just a kit.

Flarefur stretched her long, golden body slowly, not wanting to have to leave. The sunlight seemed to be focused on her fur, making her more tired than she should have been.
It wasn't long before she saw a small kit-like cat running up to her. She blinked a few times to be Starclan wasn't playing any tricks on her. She looked down at the Apprentice. After noticing his white fur and tortoiseshell patches, she smiled. "Ah, Pepperpaw. Nice sunrise, is it not?" she asked.
She tried to ignore his kit-like actions, and paid more attention to his words. "Actually, I was going to fetch some fresh-kill. You may come as you wish," she meowed.
Flarefur padded out of the clearing, looking back now and then to check on her little apprentice.
Apprentice, she thought. My first apprentice. I just hope I am able to do him justice. Failure is not an option. Haggarstar gave Flarefur an apprentice for a reason, and she intended not to lose it. Although, she was slightly afraid because of her inexperience. Why had Haggarstar chosen Flarefur over the other warriors?

"Great! I wanna catch a squirrel!" Pepperpaw meowed excitedly. Without waiting for his me tor's consent, the tom sped out of camp and overtook Flarefur, bounding through the moorland without any regard for danger. "Whoa, it sure is windy out here!" the energetic apprentice called out screwing up his eyes As a strong wind buffeted against his fur. Apparently the tom's yowling would be enough to scare off prey though the young tom was oblivious to that fact

The warrior she-cat only heard a very excited statement from the young apprentice before he took off ahead of her. She sighed, but picked up her pace, attempting to catch up to the naive tom. "Pepperpaw! Slow down!" she yowled.
She was more aware of her surroundings than Pepperpaw. She glanced around quickly as she trotted after him. She hoped that he wouldn't stir up any trouble with his elevated vocals.
She really didn't feel like challenging any cats today, and with Pepperpaw freely roaming around, the tabby was afraid the cats would only be lured in. Of course she didn't want her apprentice getting hurt. At least, not this early in the game. But all apprentices have to learn from their mistakes.
She shifted into a full-blown sprint as she heard Pepperpaw's yowls of wind. Not that it was necessarily that windy, Pepperpaw was going very quickly for his age.
The wind picked up on Flarefur's coat as well, causing her to squint her light green eyes. She came to a halt next to a tall tree, and looked around. "Pepperpaw?" she meowed.

<div align="justify"> "Hi Flarefur!"Pepperpaw meowed, practically popping up in her face with his happy face. The tom crouched low to the ground, but wiggling and tail whipping around like a snake, almost like a playful puppy. "So what are we learning today? Are you going to teach me to hunt rabbit? Or how to fight Fireclan?"the tom asked excitedly, pretending to be fighting an invisible enemy as he made a few paw swipes in the air.

(OOC: Just so you know, you don't need all the "<div>" in your table.. Proboards doesn't support html in the forums--only when coding the internal stuff..)
Suddenly the tortoiseshell tom was in front of her, causing her to jump back a tail-length in surprise. She took a deep breath and regained her composure, before turning her attention to the overactive apprentice. "Pepperpaw," she said quietly, hoping to gain his attention for just a moment.
She was hoping the young apprentice would just catch on, but it seemed to her that he would require extra assistance. She cleared her throat, and put on a cold face as she had seen many of the older mentors do. "Pepperpaw, you must keep quiet. Bouncing around and yowling only scares the prey away."
After that, she went to the side of her young apprentice, crouching low to the ground. She scanned the horizon . . . nothing. Pepperpaw must have scared them away.
She upturned her nose and sniffed the warm air. Not yet, he hadn't. She offered her apprentice a grin, but still a 'keep quiet, and keep still' look.
She crept slowly, pausing now and then as though not to catch the radar of the small rabbit. Her pawsteps were light, demonstrating the proper hunting techniques to Pepperpaw.

Pepperpaw insantly shut his jaw tight and flattened his ears when Flarefur scolded him. His eyes narrowed, as if being quiet required all the concentration in his tiny body. As his mentor crouched down beside him, the young apprenticed mimicked her. He didn't know why Flarefur was so tense when he realized she was sniffing the air for a prey scent. He also opened his mouth a little to taste the air. Instantly, the smell of rabbit reached his scent glands. Pepperpaw's fur began to bristle with excitement and he wanted to leap out, but his mentor sent him a warning look, making him hesitate. He watched his mentor quietly, his heart pounding as he watched her creep towards the rabbit. The tom tried to memorize how Flarefur moved, hoping he could copy her later.

Flarefur didn't like having to scold her young apprentice, but if she hadn't, he never would learn. Flarefur never liked being scolded as an apprentice herself, but she now realizes why they had done so. At the time she had thought that they were just being mean.
As Flarefur glanced back at her apprentice occasionally, she was surprised to see him copying her own moves. She smiled. He seemed to be 'hunting' well, and with ease.
She took a deep breath and focused her attention back on the rabbit. She narrowed her eyes, accessing any escape routes the rabbit may take. She creeped a little closer before beginning her chase. The rabbit caught on and made a run for it, but being as fast as she was, Flarefur was no match for the small animal.
She pounced on the rabbit, almost killing it instantly. To finish the job, she quickly wrapped her sharp jaws around it's neck to end it's suffering. She exhaled deeply, allowing her body to un-tense and her sudden outbreak of adrenaline to despair.
She looked back for Pepperpaw, hoping he was still around. "And now, we take it back to camp. We do not eat the prey we catch before everyone else. Kits, elders, and queens go first," she meowed. "So, any questions?"

Pepperpaw watched in awe as his mentor began to creep closer and closer to the rabbit. Suddenly, the little creature tensed as it sensed Flarefur and took off. For a heartbeat, Pepperpaw thought she had failed, but to his surprise, the warrior took off after the rabbit. Flarefur caught up to it easily and killed it. "Whoa! That was so cool!"Pepperpaw meowed, jumping to his paws and bounding over to his mentor, obviously forgetting to keep his voice down. "Can I try? Please please?"he mewed, giving his mentor a pleading look with round, hopeful eyes.

Flarefur watched as Pepperpaw appraised her hunt. She grinned and flicked her tail before sitting down on her haunches and curling it around her paws. "Why thank you," she winked. "You will be able to do the same soon."
She stared into his deep eyes and clenched her jaw. It was hard to resist a cute apprentice, she had found. Especially such a young, kit-like one as he. She sighed, obviously defeated. "I suppose so . . BUT, keep your voice down," she meowed.
She looked down at her fresh-kill, contemplating what to do with it. She would have to monitor the apprentice, but it probably wasn't a good idea to leave it here either. It could be easily spotted, and there wasn't much to cover it with. Scooping the rabbit up in her jaws, she asked the apprentice, "Where to?" It was time to put the skills she had just taught him to good use.

"Hooray!"Pepperpaw yowled in delight, leaping into the air. Just after, Flarefur quickly told him to keep his voice down. Almost instantly, the tom crouched to the ground, keeping his mouth shut, though the light of excitement in his eyes didn't die down. He was going to prove to his mentor he could do this. Trying to act calm and mature, he whispered to Flarefur, "Over there" His muzzle gestured to a particulary sandy area, but if one looked closely, it was covered in rabbit holes. The tom quickly, but quietly, bounded over. When he reached the edge of the clearing, the tom stopped, tasting the air. Sure enough, the fresh scent of rabbit hung in the air. Pepperpaw visualized his mentor's crouching techinique and tried to do the same thing. His muscles bunched up in his haunches and he went low to the ground. It looked slightly awkward being his first time. The tom waited silently, which was probably the longest he's ever been silent, as he watched the rabbit hole, waiting for the creature to venture out. Sadly, he didn't have alot of tortoiseshell patches to cover his snowy white fur, completely exposed in this brown and yellow moorland.
Suddenly, Pepperpaw's ear pricked as he heard the scuffle of claws on the dirt and two large ears poked out. It was followed by a tiny brown bunny. It almost looked like a baby bunny, venturing out into the world. Excitement coursed through the apprentice, but he forced himself to wait until the bunny was out in the open. Slowly, the tom watched the rabbit, his yellow eyes narrowed as he gauged the distance between him and his prey. Then, his muscles tensed before he kicked off the ground, sending a cloud of dust behind him as he raced towards the rabbit. The creature let out a terrified squeal and tried to take cover in the den, but Pepperpaw was too fast. His claws hooked onto the tiny critter and he dragged it towards him. His teeth gave its neck a sharp nip, killing it instantly. "I DID IT!!"Pepperpaw crowed, feeling a rush of pride in his first catch. "Did you see that?"the tom meowed, whipping around to boast to his mentor.

Flarefur was honestly afraid the tom would have scared all the prey away by now, but as it turns out, he hadn't. One catch was lucky, she had thought. Flarefur followed the apprentice, but stayed back a bit to observe the hunt and not intervene. Most of Flarefur's body was camouflaged from view, but the white rabbit in her jaws was quite the opposite.
She watched as the apprentice crouched low to the ground, tense with what she expected was excitement. Flarefur chuckled lightly. He looked a bit awkward with it being his first time and all, but it should get better with practice.
Soon after the creature poked it's head out of the rabbit hole, Pepperpaw took off after it. He didn't have to chase after it long, and killed it quickly. Flarefur padded up to her apprentice. "Of course I saw it! Great job!" she exclaimed, and smiled.
