Fur and Markings: Darksong has solid black fur, with not one single hair being of another color. His fur is short in length and can be soft when he bothers to groom it, which isn't often.
Body Shape and Size: He's of average size for an adult tom, and certainly doesn't lack in muscle mass even though he's a medicine cat.
Others (scars, distinguishable features ect): He has multiple minor scars, but the most noticeable are on his face, running down from his forehead across his eyes down to his checks. There's no visible damage to his eyes, however, and they are a bright shade of yellow.
but F A I L U R E is all you've known
Personality: Darksong is not the most pleasant cat to be around most of the time. The bad attitude he had as an apprentice still lingers, plus he's full of sarcasm and witty comebacks. He gets easily frustrated with others, especially if they aren't the smartest and/or are "too happy". Under the surface though, Darksong does genuinely care for his clanmates and strives for perfection with his healing skills to take the best care of them possible.[/blockquote]
Wants: Darksong will say a lot of times that what he wants is to be left alone, but he really doesn't mean it. He does like be around others, as long as they aren't a complete idiot. As a kit and apprentice, all he wanted was his father's approval and never once got it, so he now believes he isn't worthy of any praise from anyone.
Fears: One of Darksong's biggest fears is a clan member dying because of a mistake he made, or because he didn't act quick enough to save them.
Goals: Just to be the best medicine cat he can, to heal the injured and sick, and of course to save lives and follow StarClan's will.
Skills: Of course, he has an extensive knowledge of herbs and how to heal others, but one might be surprised to find he's an extremely skilled fighter as well.
Likes: He thoroughly enjoys being sarcastic and snarky whenever he can and has a very dark sense of humor. He also really likes to sleep and along with that comes his hate of being woken up, especially for a stupid reason.
Dislikes: Darksong despises hunting more than anything, and he's never been very good at it. He also likes to say he hates kits and apprentices, but deep down he does and he actually finds them amusing most of the time.
Reason for taking high-position: He originally started out as a warrior apprentice, but was close friends with the medicine cat apprentice. She often told him what she was learning about, and one day she got injured and he used what she had told him to try to save her. She did not survive, and when the medicine cat heard about Darkpaw's attempt to save her, it was decided he would replace her as medicine cat apprentice. Shortly after earning his name Darksong, his mentor died and he took over as medicine cat.

History:
Kithood:
His sister, Solacekit, was born first with no trouble, but his mother, Pantherheart, died shortly after Darkkit was born. Their father, Tornspirit, was completely devastated. Twilightglow, another queen who had recently had kits, took care of Solacekit and Darkkit along with her two kits, Spiritkit and Dreamkit. Twilightglow did not like Tornspirit, but couldn't stand to see the kits starve. Luckily for her, but not so much for the kits, Tornspirit had almost nothing to do with them.
Apprenticehood:
Darkpaw was excited to start training as a warrior apprentice, but found himself struggling. He was decent at fighting since his father encouraged it so much, but no matter how hard he tried he could barely hunt. Both his mentor and father were frustrated with him.
Dreampaw had been chosen as medicine cat apprentice, which was upsetting to Darkpaw. Even though they had been raised like siblings, Darkpaw found himself falling for her. Thus the rule of medicine cats not having mates was difficult to come to terms with. He remained friends with her and she often told him about her training. Darkpaw found the knowledge she shared with him very interesting.
One day, Dreampaw and Spiritpaw's father, Terrorclaw, took them out into the forest. Spiritpaw was curious about the rouge territory on the other side of the thunderpath, and bolted across despite his father's warnings. Both Terrorclaw and Dreampaw chased after him. Spiritpaw made it across, but his father and sister did not. They were hit by a twoleg monster.
Darkpaw had been out practicing hunting on his own when he heard all the commotion. He rushed over to find Terrorclaw had already died, and Dreampaw barely alive. He tried his best to use the healing knowledge she had shared with him to save her, but she was too injured to survive.
Darkpaw and Spiritpaw returned to camp, horribly shaken and weighed down with guilt. Both become extremely depressed, and Darkpaw hardly moved from his nest over the following days. Eventually, he was dragged out for a clan meeting, during which he was chosen to take Dreampaw's place as medicine cat apprentice. Spiritpaw had told the medicine cat about how Darkpaw had tried to save her, and the medicine cat found it rather impressive.
Darkpaw was shocked, but excited at the same time. Being a warrior apprentice had never felt quite right to him. His confidence at first was rather low though, since he felt guilty about not being able to save Dreampaw. He grew more confident through his training, and vowed to heal and save as many other cats as possible to make it up to Dreampaw.
His confidence was also boosted by frequent StarClan dreams, during which he was visited by both Dreampaw and his mother Pantherheart. They encouraged him to keep trying and always believed in him. That much couldn't be said for his father, Tornspirit though. He was disgusted that his son had such a rank in the clan. He felt it was a silly position given to useless and weak cats.
Tornspirit became increasingly more unpleasant towards Darkpaw as time went on. Darkpaw finally reached his breaking point and snapped at him, leading to Tornspirit clawing at his face. Tornspirit was promptly banished from the clan and later found dead from unknown causes.
Medicine Cat:
Soon after Darkpaw's name was changed to Darksong, his mentor died and he became the lone medicine cat of the clan. He found it overwhelming at first, but has since gotten used to it and has grown into a fine medicine cat, but a bit of a grump to say the least.

In character example: (I hope it's okay that I copied-pasted this from the old site)
"So this is what it's like to be an apprentice? What a joke..." Darkpaw thought as he awoke the morning after the ceremony. He couldn't remember why he was so excited about it. Here he was, a brand new apprentice of Fireclan, waking up on his first day of training.
The ebony tom supposed the first thing that ruined everything was his mentor. It was some overly-happy-mousebrained-fool called Stormchaser. Having a mentor like that would certainly be an awful experience.
Beside him his small sister stirred. Seconds later, her piercing green eyes were staring directly into the yellows of her brother, "Why didn't you wake me up sooner?! Everyone's already up and we're going to be late for our first day as apprentices!" Solacepaw spat.
She stood up and began padding out of the den. Darkpaw was still laying in the same spot. "Come on you idiot!"
Darkpaw sighed, and then slowly followed her, "I'd rather delay my suffering a bit longer....but whatever."
Solacepaw glared at him again, "Go back to sleep then, but I'm going out." She refused to look bad because of him, even if he was her brother. It was necessary for her to make a good impression on her mentor the first day, no matter what.
He continued to follow her anyway, knowing better than to get on her bad side. It was impossible to deal with her when she had her mind set on impressing someone. Darkpaw gave up trying to please others long ago. If he couldn't please his own father, then what was the point?
